A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
The Olympic games officially begin today. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, “Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away.” We are to run with endurance the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1), forgetting what lies behind and straining for what lies ahead, pressing on toward the goal (Philippians 3:13-14). This is so we can say in the end, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
Pray that those running the race throughout East Asia—missionaries, pastors, lay people—will finish well.
