A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
Since the eighteenth century, the Xijima culture and language have been overtaken by the surrounding Han influence. Only certain dances, festivals, and religious practices remain to distinguish them as a separate people group. The Xijima language is nearly extinct, with only a handful of the elderly still able to speak it—younger generations speak Mandarin. Some have adopted Daoist practices, but the younger generation is basically nonreligious. Scripture and gospel recordings are available to them, yet no known Christians or churches exist among the Mandarin-speaking Xijima. Until someone goes to show them a better way, they will continue to be greatly influenced by the atheistic society around them that views religion as backward or foolish.
Pray for light to shine in their darkness and lead them back to God.
