A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
On this Thanksgiving Day, missionaries in East Asia can reflect on God’s grace and provision over the past 175 years. Though the first Southern Baptist missionaries went to China in 1835, they were officially sent by the Foreign Mission Board upon its conception in 1845. Since then, every country in East Asia has seen churches planted, schools opened, and people saved. Today, missionaries reap a harvest from what was sown with blood, sweat, and tears—they stand on the shoulders of giants and are grateful. Some gave their lives that the Chinese might be saved. But today’s missionaries do not boast about their missions’ legacy or their ministry— they boast in a God who has been faithful for 175 years to call, equip, send, and sustain his servants for the fulfillment of his plan.
Proclaim how great God is and tell everyone of the wonderful things he has done (Psalm 75:1).
