A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
Disasters stand out in our minds and serve as constant reminders of pain and sorrow (e.g. 9/11, the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, and the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear disaster in Japan in 2011). We reference or focus on these events, yet daily in East Asia, nearly 35,000 people die every day, slipping into a Christ-less eternity. This should drive us to our knees in prayer. Jesus asked his disciple, “‘So, couldn’t you stay awake with Me one hour’” (Matthew 26:40)? God says, “’For My name will be great among the nations, from the rising of the sun to its setting’” (Malachi 1:11a). Who knows what God will do because we pray.
God, make your name known among the people of East Asia!
