A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples

Rosewell Graves died in China in 1912 at the age of seventy-nine. He went to China as a Southern Baptist missionary in 1856 at the age of twenty-three and served there for fifty-six years. One thing he realized, which is still true today, is that foreigners can never fully evangelize China. Chinese Christians need to reach their own people with the gospel. Long ago, much time was spent training men for the ministry. Graves was brilliant in theological education and he discipled numerous men to be evangelists and pastors. This is still a key need, not just in China, but in all of East Asia. Pastors are aging and few are stepping into this difficult but rewarding role.

Pray for the leadership of East Asian churches to be fully committed to God’s Word and the making of disciples who will lead tomorrow’s churches.
