A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
National Day commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1, 1949. It’s often celebrated for seven days with hopes that people will shop more, travel more, and spend more money during this long holiday. Military parades are held in Beijing, streets are decorated with slogans and flags, and millions of people travel. It is a day of great pride for China’s ruling party as it celebrates its accomplishments. During this time, things that are perceived as anti-government are tightly monitored, which means religious activities are at risk.
Pray Christians during this time will hold onto hope and be bold (2 Corinthians 3:12), and confidently speak the words God gives so they can make known the mystery of the gospel (Ephesians 6:19). Pray they will call to God, hear his answer, and be bold with strength in their souls (Psalm 138:3).
