A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
It was easy to strike up a conversation with others crowded into the Lanzhou beef noodle shop as we enjoyed the delicious soup. Lamian, which literally means pulled or stretched noodles, originated in Lanzhou. This city is the capital of northwest China’s Gansu province. Historically, the Northern Silk Road passed through here, and it was at times controlled by Tibetans and Mongols. It is now home to many Muslim communities and is a melting pot of China’s fifty-six ethnic groups.
Pray for the church here to be bold in serving its neighbors and in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus. Pray for unity among the brothers and sisters, doctrinal soundness and protection against cults, and wise servant-leaders among the pastorate. As people gather for lunch over a bowl of noodles, pray that the gospel will be shared to nourish their souls.
