A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples

A church in Kamaishi, Japan, held its first baptism in a long time. Many people in the area are hesitant to go to the ocean, let alone get in it. A woman, who is normally very shy, loudly proclaimed her faith in Christ and eagerly went into the ocean on a cool and cloudy day. The pastor was hesitant to wade too far out so he kept her close to shore. When she knelt down and tried to go under the water, it wasn’t quite deep enough. The pastor felt she had been sufficiently immersed and brought her out. However, not satisfied, she went back in on her own, stretched her whole body facedown in the water, stayed a while, then came up rejoicing. Four weeks later, another Christian who had witnessed this also was baptized!
