A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
As missionaries encounter unique cultures, they must learn and adjust. An added layer of adjustment often exists for families with younger children. One couple struggled through the decision of whether or not to send their child to a local pre-kindergarten during a season of focused language study. After prayerfully deciding to send their child, cultural differences related to childcare and education became more apparent. In the strength of Jesus, the parents sought to listen and understand. Over time a new routine developed, and they began engaging with other parents of children at the school. These relationships developed and the Good News was proclaimed.
Ask the Lord to grant faithfulness in learning for those who daily walk in unfamiliar environments. Request God’s grace for the moments when the differences in culture feel overwhelming. May these be opportunities to invest more deeply (Philippians 4:10-13).
