A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples

Eighteen million Zhuang make up the largest of China’s ethnic minorities. Their language consists of dozens of dialects without any approved written form. “Zhuang” has been used for a thousand years, but previously they called themselves by multiple different names. They are farmers who revere nature and spirits, using altars in their homes to worship various spirits, gods, and ancestors. Once a week they make an offering to the gods, and they are fearful they have not done enough. The younger generation is drifting from religion toward atheism. Christian influence has been limited but effective, and in some areas the church is taking root.

Pray for the Zhuang to worship the God who has always known their name. Pray they will hear him call to them in their heart language, and for their fears and traditions to grow dim and pass away as they follow him.
