A Prayer a Day for East Asian Peoples
As Song* Christians gathered to write lyrics in their own language, they discussed many issues within their church, including the topic of funerals. Christians faced persecution when they did not follow the local animistic customs after someone died. They decided to write a song to address this issue. Several months later, Christians and non-Christians gathered for the funeral of a Song believer. Instead of inviting the shaman to perform rituals to appease the spirits, the Christians sang the funeral song. Amazingly, a very unusual cloud pattern formed in the sky in the clear shape of a giant cross. Many of the non-Christians wondered aloud, “Your God must be a true God.”
Pray the non-Christian family members who attended this funeral will fully know God. Pray for boldness as the Song church uses music to deal with cultural issues and glorify God.
