“What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world yet loses his life” (Matthew 16:26a)? Many East Asian parents begin preparing their children for university before kindergarten, choosing the “best” schools so they can attend the “best” universities and get the “best” jobs. For the sake of their studies, students do not have time for youth group. For the sake of their jobs, working men and women do not have time for Bible study or a quiet time. They reach levels of worldly success but leave God behind or do not take the time to know him. Is it any wonder that suicide rates are high and family relationships are broken?

God, awaken East Asian hearts to the fact that pursuing the things of this world will not satisfy. Compel them to carve out time to know you more.
