Everyday Prayer for East Asia People
Day 17
There was a “cruel winter” during Chairman Mao’s rule from the 1950s to 1970s in China when an entire generation of church leadership was martyred. In the ’80s and ’90s, rapid church growth occurred in rural China. However, these newer Chinese churches have found themselves lacking the necessary skills to equip their church leadership. The rural church leaders were not trained by the previous generation of leaders because of the spiritual vacuum left after Mao’s rule. Moreover, they are unable to train the newer church leaders of the 21st century because of their own lack of training. Please pray for those who will help mend the generational leadership gap by investing in Chinese pastors. Pray these younger pastors will learn how to be faithful, skillful, and humble servants of God who train the next generation of church leaders.
